Over the years I have been involved in recordings with many different engineers and producers. Methods vary, from recording every note from the first rehearsal to ‘live’ recordings of performances (usually enhanced by one or more ‘patch’ sessions).
In addition to my orchestral work, I have become increasingly involved in recording chamber music which has brought some of the most stimulating experiences of music making.
More recently I have also taken the role of Producer of a variety of solo and chamber recording projects. This perspective has fed back positively into my own playing, offering stimulating insights into sound and balance and also the ways in which music evolves in the imagination over time. The intensity of the listening experience from the Producer’s viewpoint enhances my own creative responses to music as a player.
